PROFILE: ETIENNE "VINCEY" KARSTEN

 

Ettiene adds a bit of cultural diversity to the house which consists largely of people who can speak English. His Afrikaans upbringing ensured that he would be a loyal supporter of the Blou Bulle through thick and mostly thin. He has actually added even more cultural diversity with his delicious Japanese stir-fry. (I personally think he must have just bought it at a restaurant and claimed it as his own!)

 

His strong character has meant he was able excel in the sporting arena despite his underprivileged schooling in the small town of Paarl (also home of Paarl Gym a famous rugby school). His golfing abilities ensured that he was able to attend College in the US of A. His Saffa accent no doubt contributed to many great nights over there, and he has continued his great batting form in the home of the Highveld Strikers where he has the comfortably scored the most runs in garage cricket.

In terms of his cricket career (mentioned above) it has been rumored amongst certain circles that he once paid a bowler (or two) to bowl it in the slot [Bowlers name's : Albie and Morne - related by the way]. Vincey vehemently denies this rumor and cannot fathom where this back fence talk may have originated from.

On the subject of sport, Vincey has been able to convert the many backhands he has received at Manhattan's on a Friday night into lethal backhands on the table tennis front. I am predicting that based on that form that he could soon be throwing glasses at his opponents across the table.
